The Blackout Buddy CO is ETL Certified to UL2034 CO standards. If dangerous conditions are detected, the Blackout Buddy CO will blast an audible and LED flashing alarm.... Even during a power outage!

    • Active CO Sensor

Detects dangerous Carbon Monoxide (CO) Gas from common sources such as gas or wood burning fireplaces, leaking gas fired appliances, gas fired boilers and heaters –including portable, clogged chimney, running automobiles, and other CO omitting equipment.

Plug it in and Forget it

Just leave the Blackout Buddy CO in your wall socket and you’ll never be in the dark. We suggest plugging it into a low wall socket as that is the ideal position for CO detection. Backup replaceable AA batteries provides added security and continuous protection even when power is lost.

      Real Time CO Level

The Blackout Buddy CO has a large LED showing you the current CO levels. Real-time CO level (ppm) provides vital information at all times.

      Always Ready for Action

Always ready with two sources of power, either plugged into a standard 120V AC outlet or replaceable AA batteries. The CO detection continues, even during a power outage.

    Frequently Asked Questions

Find Answers To All Your Questions

What is the primary function of the Blackout Buddy CO?

The Blackout Buddy CO is designed to detect dangerous levels of Carbon Monoxide (CO) from common sources like gas fireplaces, leaking gas appliances, gas-fired boilers, clogged chimneys, and running automobiles. It also serves as an emergency light during power outages.

How does the Blackout Buddy CO detect Carbon Monoxide?

It uses an active CO sensor to continuously monitor the air for Carbon Monoxide. The sensor alerts you to dangerous levels of CO by displaying real-time CO levels on a large LED screen.

Where should I plug in the Blackout Buddy CO for optimal performance?

For the best detection results, plug the Blackout Buddy CO into a low wall socket. This position ensures the sensor can effectively monitor the air at the most likely level where CO might accumulate.

What happens if there is a power outage?

In the event of a power outage, the Blackout Buddy CO automatically turns on and functions as an emergency light. It continues to detect CO using its backup AA batteries, ensuring your safety even when power is lost.

How long do the AA batteries last in the Blackout Buddy CO?

The AA batteries provide backup power for CO detection and emergency lighting. They should be replaced periodically to ensure continuous protection, though the exact duration can vary based on usage and battery type.

How can I check the CO levels detected by the Blackout Buddy CO?

The device features a large LED display that shows real-time CO levels in parts per million (ppm). This allows you to monitor the current CO concentration at any time.

Can I use the Blackout Buddy CO as a regular night light?

While the primary function of the Blackout Buddy CO is CO detection and emergency lighting, it also provides a small amount of illumination when the power is out. However, it's not designed to replace a regular night light.

What should I do if the Blackout Buddy CO detects high levels of CO?

If the device detects dangerous levels of CO, it will activate its alarm to alert you. Immediately evacuate the premises and contact emergency services. Follow safety protocols to address the source of CO and ensure the area is ventilated before re-entering.
